This traditional home-style dish relies on gentle steaming to preserve the natural sweetness and incredibly tender texture of the fresh sea bream. By using only a handful of ingredients—crisp green onions, a light steam, and a final drizzle of savory seafood soy sauce—it creates an elegant, healthy meal that lets the clean flavors of the fish truly shine.
Finely shred the green onions and ginger and set them aside. Thoroughly wash the fish, clean out the innards, remove the scales, and make two shallow cuts on the back of the fish to help the flavors penetrate.
Prepare a steamer. Place the prepped fish onto a plate, top it with the shredded green onions, and place the plate into the steamer.
Cover the steamer with a lid and steam over medium-low heat for 15 minutes.
Once the time is up, carefully remove the plate from the steamer and pour off the accumulated liquid/juices from the plate.
Drizzle with some seasoned soy sauce for seafood, and it is ready to serve!
